Shattered Dreams Event Information

Shattered Dreams Event Information Over the course of two days, April 9-10, students at College Station High School will be challenged to examine the effects of underage drinking on the community and their lives. CSHS will host the Shattered Dreams program which promotes responsible decision-making among high school students regarding underage drinking and impaired driving. It emphasizes the results of alcohol-related crashes: the shattered dreams of those who drive after drinking, the innocent victims, and their friends and families.

On Thursday, the entire student body will witness a mock-crash scene where CSHS students are involved and students will see the work of law enforcement, emergency medical services, and area hospitals. Selected students will walk the halls of CSHS representing the staggering statistic of the number of drunk-driving deaths that occur by the minute. Having this visual representation brings an abstract topic to real life to encourage changes in thinking and behavior related to drinking and driving.

On Friday, all students will attend an assembly where Sean Carter, a victim of a drunk-driving accident, will present his program When Sean Speaks. There will also be a Lunch-and-Learn activity sponsored by TxDOT with a drunk-driving simulator in our cafeteria.

Our goal as a campus is to reduce underage drinking and impaired driving among our students. We are excited to use this educational program to bring about the opportunity to communicate with our youth about the dangers involved in decisions involving alcohol.

All the meetings will be held in the CSHS Large Group Instruction room (LGI). Each meeting will have the same information and you will only need to attend one.
